The McLean County Health Department assists in accessing professional eye exams and eyeglasses for income eligible children and adults who live in McLean County.

Individuals who qualify for eye care through the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services are not eligible for the McLean County Health Department Eye Care Program.

The Eye Program is made possible through the generous efforts of local opthalmologists, the Watson-Gailey Eye Foundation Trust Fund, private individuals and organizations interested in eye care.

Services
Local eye doctors volunteer to provide the following Eye Care Program services:
Examinations
Glasses and lens change
Eyeglass repair

In order to receive services through the Eye Care Program, you must:

Apply at the McLean County Health Department
Upon application and proof of income for the last month, an appointment will be scheduled for you with a local eye doctor. You will receive an appointment reminder card in the mail.

Keep Your Appointment
You may receive a prescription for eyeglasses at your appointment. Bring this prescription back to the McLean County Health Department.

Payment
You may receive a bill from the eye doctor. Do not pay this bill. The fee for adult eyeglasses is $40. Children’s eyeglasses are $10. Pay these fees when you return to the Health Department with your eye glass prescription. Once you pay the fee, take the receipt to Bloomington Alliance Eye Care, Inc. and they will fill the prescription for your eye glasses.
