Seasonal:
McLean County Highway Department employs between 10 and 15 seasonal staff throughout the year.  Applications are available at the McLean County Highway Department Office, 102 S. Yearly Seasonal Highway Department Opportunities:

Maintenance: Laborer-Highway
Responsible for working with the maintenance crew to perform routine highway and facility maintenance, such as trimming grass, weed-eating around guardrail, pavement crack repair, painting, etc.  Dates: FT May 15 – September 15.  For full consideration applications should be submitted to the McLean County Highway Department Office between December 1 and January 1 for positions available the following May.

Maintenance:  Seasonal Plow Operator
Responsibilities include the performance of manual tasks of more than ordinary difficulty requiring special knowledge and skills, including the operation of trucks and other mechanized equipment, plowing snow, spreading salt and cinders, and assisting in the maintenance of snowplow equipment.  Work is usually performed under the supervision of a foreman or journeyman craftsman who assigns work both orally and in writing, and makes inspections to assure proper performance of the work. Dates: FT from the Monday following Thanksgiving until the last Friday in March.  For full consideration applications should be submitted to the McLean County Highway Department Office between August 1 and September 1 for positions available in November.
