Courtroom Clerk

The following positions are available at the McLean County Circuit Clerk’s Office, located in the Law & Justice Center at 104 West Front Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701. This announcement is for current county employees and the general public.

This is a year-round, part-time position with a salary rate of $8.00 per hour. Hours are on weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., depending upon daily courtroom schedules. Clerks are guaranteed six hours each day worked in the event court would adjourn early.

This position prepares courtrooms for trials and maintains order. Work includes responsibility for providing assistance to the judge and jury, clerical tasks, and seeing that all appropriate records and exhibits are available during trials. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Circuit Clerk and specific direction from the bench.

Requirements for this position include graduation from high school, some experience in working with people or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, abilities and skills. Knowledge of courtroom procedures helpful. Applicants must be in good physical condition and capable of using stairs.
