Evergreen Lake Fishing - August 30, 2010 Water Conditions

Temperature: Hovering Around 80 Degrees
Level: 3 1/2 Feet Below Normal Pool
Clarity: 2-3 Feet

The crappies and saugeyes are really on right now! We have been getting reports of limits of both species. Crappies are biting on jig and minnow combo near shoreline structure adjacent to deep water, and the saugeye are biting on mostly jig and crawler combo and main lake humps and points. Today, Nick Neargarder of Normal, Illinois caught a very nice 15 1/2", 1 3/4 lb. crappie! The bluegill are still biting fair, but not like they were. The gills are biting mostly on worms and waxworms best. The catfish have slowed down considerably, with not many reports coming in. The water is still a bit too warm to be fishing for muskies, but it won't be long. Take Care & Good Fishin', Mike.

Reports have been good for fishing the past week. Some Crappie are starting to be caught in the shallows, with most still being caught in deeper waters 10-15 ft. on minnows. A few smaller Saugeye reported from over the weekend in the 10-15" range caught on crawlers off of points. Catfish have been hitting on crawlers, livers, and stink baits. Bluegill have been doing well on small pieces of crawlers and wax worms along deep weed lines. Bass action has started to pick up a bit on crankbaits, spinners, and plastic worms.
Good Luck, Brad
