In a Primary Election in Illinois, to vote, you must tell the Election Judge what Party ballot you wish; in this case it would be Republican, Democratic, or Libertarian.

A few rural precincts have a Referendum on the ballot. If you only wish to vote for the Referendum, you don’t have to declare a Party affiliation, you simply request a Non-Partisan Ballot.
