The Board is comprised of three members, appointed by the County Board chairman. The members represent the two highest polling political parties in the last general election - two members from the majority, and one from the next highest polling party.
Board of Review members must pass a state examination and demonstrate knowledge of real estate and tax law. The board's highest goal is a fair and equitable assessment.
The current Board of Review consists of the following members:
Taxpayers can appeal their assessment to the board during the 30 days following the notice of assessment. The board can change any value in the County. A hearing may be held, in an informal setting, in the Supervisor of Assessments conference room. The board also has equalization authority. Taxpayers who object to their assessment must complete a complaint form.
