The Coroner's Office
The staff at the Coroner's Office is here to help you. Do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions. You can reach any one of us 24 hours a day by calling (309) 888-5210.
The Funeral Home
One of the first decisions the Coroner's Office will ask you to do is choose a funeral home. The funeral home will be a valuable resource for assisting you in matters related to your loved one's death. The funeral director will help you make choices and identify business tasks that you may need to address during the upcoming weeks and months. You will order permanent death certificates from the funeral home.
Other Resources
There are a variety of community resources that may be available to you, ranging from financial assistance to emotional support. The following brief list is provided for you in the event that you need immediate assistance.
Please note: All of the organizations listed here provide their services free of charge. The McLean County Coroner's Office does not endorse any particular community resource.
The Compassionate Friends Inc.
This is an international self-help group for bereaved families who have experienced the death of a child. Meetings are held quarterly at 7:30 pm on the second Monday of each month at St. Patrick's Church of Merna; one mile east of the CIRA.
