Functions
Community service is a sanction that is recognized and at times mandated for certain offenses in statute and is ordered by the court on adult offenders as part of a disposition by the court in lieu of paying a fine or serving a jail sentence. Community service work is performed at nonprofit agencies in the community in which the offender resides.
Role of the Community Service Officer
It is the role of the community service officer to seek and maintain work sites throughout McLean County and to monitor offenders while they are performing community service work.
