Recovery Court

Functions

Recovery Court is a Mental Health Specialty Court designed for adult offenders who have been convicted of a non-violent offense who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness.

Purposes of the Program

The goal of Recovery Court is to decrease the number of recurrent arrests that result from mental health issues by sending offenders to treatment for their mental health issues rather than jail.

Requirements for Participants

Recovery Court participants must make regular court appearances before the designated Recovery Court judge. The participants receive weekly and sometimes daily mental health treatment, while meeting frequently with probation officers, recovery coaches, and treatment providers. In addition, substance abuse treatment is available to those eligible Recovery Court participants who have a dual diagnosis.
