Volunteer Requirements
Anyone over the age of 23 years old is eligible to become a CASA.
Application Process
Persons interested in becoming a CASA must submit a Volunteer Application with reference letters, undergo a thorough background check, participate in a 30 hour training course prior to being accepted by the program and the Court. Ongoing continuing education and in-service participation is required after accepting a CASA volunteer position.

About the Training Experience
Training classes are offered three times per year (Spring, Summer and Fall). Please call the office at (309) 888-5656 for details on the next upcoming CASA Training Class. Applications are due at a minimum six weeks prior to the class beginning.
Ongoing Training for CASAs After Swearing In
There are ongoing training sessions for CASA volunteers after being sworn in by court. The program conducts in-service training on a monthly basis. Continuing education is required to serve as an active CASA.
Continuing Education
CASA volunteers must complete 12 hours of continuing education each year. This can be completed by a variety of ways including attending in-service training events, reading relevant books and articles, watching movies or documentaries relating to foster care issues, etc. Download the Continuing Hours Form.
